I want to finish all the books on my shelf

This is for all my avid readers out there. 

So, I have around 40 books I collected in 2024 and I think I’ve only read 5 of them. I know that sounds bad. But, like so many other people, I used to read all my books online and then one day I woke up and just wanted to own books so I went on a spending spree. Honestly, I don't regret it. The books were all worth it but I do need to read them. Hence this ended up on my list. 

I used to really be into reading. But as the years went by, that fire slowly died down. I started watching tv shows more, social media became a norm. Everything changed but then I met someone who described me as “an avid reader”. That was enough to relight the fire. I don’t know if I can do it with everything happening around me but I am going to do everything I can. 

My favourite book in 2024 was “What’s left of me is yours” by Stephanie Scott. It had me feeling all kinds of emotions and I think anyone who can should read it too. Below is an excerpt from the book.

“It is customary upon meeting someone to explain who you are and where you realize it or not, you already know me and you know my story. Look closely. Reach into the far corners of your mind and sift through the news clipping, bulletins, tabloid crimes, tucked away there. You will see me. I am the line at the end of an article; I am the final sentence ending with a full stop.”
